I think I write a lot, because of all the talk, I don’t get to do in the ‘antisocial’ school I go to.

I love people who are smart, witty, but not nerdy smart. I love people who understand how to make a buck. People who are active, open to the world. Know how to make an interesting conversation. I love people who are realistic. They are dreamers, but not blindly positive. I love people who are skeptics about everything, who doubt everything, and always try to find new ideas. I love people who are creative, and try to put their hearts to add value into life. I love people who can know if a certain speech or a book is bullshit from the first paragraph, and them guessing correctly. I love people who understand art, and understand that trying to explain life only with science is like asking a grammarian to explain a poem. I love people who look at nature, and understand beauty. People who are passionate about what they do, I love people who can express their opinions about something, and say bullshit, when they hear bullshit, without offending the person in front of them.

After talking about my new CE 1.0 Handheld PC, I thought I ought to show you all what my tablet looks like. It’s about 14-15 years old now and I’ve had it for almost eleven months. I don’t use it much, but that’s not the point. The reason I got it was for the novelty value - these things are rare as rocking horse droppings, and I’d never seen one before. But since it ran this mythical Windows CE OS, I decided I had to have it. One auction and fifty dollars later, it was mine.

So here it is, my Fujitsu PenCentra 200, circa 1999-2000.

While using the stylus can be a bit of a mission (you have to hold it just so, otherwise the letters you write are incomplete and your Solitaire games a total nightmare), it’s otherwise cool to have. It’s definitely a stripped-down version of something resembling both Windows 98 and Windows 2000, but the built-in Office and Internet features make up for it, and it’s actually surprising how similar it is to an actual desktop system.

Naturally after so much time it’s woefully outdated: battery life is anywhere around 30-45 minutes, its modem is dial-up, it takes a PS/2 mouse or keyboard connection, and it hooks up to a computer with a serial port - its USB port is, as far as any of my devices are concerned, purely decorative. But it doesn’t worry me. Like I said, it’s not a serious portable computing tool - my laptop and smartphone take care of that. It’s more a physical reminder of where we’ve come, and it’s also a great conversation piece when talking technology with my friends. In the age of Surfaces and iPads (the former of which I would  love to have, since putting Windows 98 onto it would be epic fun), it’s hilarious to see the looks on people’s faces when I pull out this enormous 1½”-thick tablet that predates this millennium.

But what surprises me the most is that I can get this tablet to work with my Windows 7 desktop. Okay, sure, in order to move stuff between them I need a Windows 2000 virtual machine in the middle and $50 worth of USB-serial converter cables, but it’s proof that it can be done. Sadly, it will never browse the Internet again, which is a shame because it would make for a very interesting Facebook, YouTube, and Tumblr experience.

my ex boss sent me a message saying that he received the gift! he sounds like he likes it. I don’t know. I might get back to the same job [In case I don’t find anything else] and at the end I really had fun there, and enjoyed my experience. Teaching kids at an Ivy League school is always good. But since this is my last summer. I want to do something more professional. I’m praying I find something like that. It’s hard, but not impossible

I got an interview in a company, this was one of the reviews on Glassdoor. Even though I’m not a big believer in reviews. But yeah. If they pay me enough to stay there in NY. I have no problem with that. I will talk to them tomorrow, and see how that goes

4 internship applications before I sleep till the summer, should hopefully get me an internship. Otherwise I’m either so unqualified or stupid, and i’m pretty darn sure that I saw way stupid people and unqualified people getting amazing internships.

C’mon guys we are neighbors

C’mon guys we are neighbors

“You. You are alive.

and sometimes the player believed the universe had spoken to it through the sunlight that came through the shuffling leaves of the summer trees

and sometimes the player believed the universe had spoken to it through the light that fell from the crisp night sky of winter, where a fleck of light in the corner of the player’s eye might be a star a million times as massive as the sun, boiling its planets to plasma in order to be visible for a moment to the player, walking home at the far side of the universe, suddenly smelling food, almost at the familiar door, about to dream again

and sometimes the player believed the universe had spoken to it through the zeros and ones, through the electricity of the world, through the scrolling words on a screen at the end of a dream

and the universe said I love you

and the universe said you have played the game well

and the universe said everything you need is within you

and the universe said you are stronger than you know

and the universe said you are the daylight

and the universe said you are the night

and the universe said the darkness you fight is within you

and the universe said the light you seek is within you

and the universe said you are not alone

and the universe said you are not separate from every other thing

and the universe said you are the universe tasting itself, talking to itself, reading its own code

and the universe said I love you because you are love.

And the game was over and the player woke up from the dream. And the player began a new dream. And the player dreamed again, dreamed better. And the player was the universe. And the player was love.

You are the player.

Wake up.”
